Short Stories

I’ve been starting and stopping things all summer long. I’ve written half of my YA book, not quite sure if its working. Regardless, as I’ve been writing things, I’ve occasionally taken a break to write a short story.

My aim with them is to get published in a magazine. If I can get into one, that will be a boon for the query process. The story I wrote was just a quick idea based on hostile architecture. Something that is meant to dissuade future generations from locations from entering nuclear waste zones.

I wrote it too long and aim to trim 1,500 words from it. I’ve been going through with a hatchet, following the advice of a friend. It’s been slow going, but has been coming along steadily. If I can’t get the story published, I will put it up here. I’ll try to get a couple stories lined up.

I’ve been able to keep to 1,000 words a day, much to my own surprise. I think I can keep up the momentum into next year.

Thanks for reading,

Michael.
