Many Iolish stories have him in them, but in the Ring of Dain Thar Duin he is important as the father of Mathred and grandfather of Malach. His protégé, the Wise Man Ail Meloch, forges the ring. The Baíth witch he married still roams the isle, moving the pieces she has long been putting onto the board.

Teloch of the Ui Lide Aesal after his father, Mathred is the strongest hero of the Iolish. His feats are celebrated everywhere, except by the Un Bolom. His enemy was the Sea which surrounds the isle, and he fought many battles against her and her twisted creations. The father of Malach, he dies shortly after forcing the Sea to surrender.
The Wise Man of Ail Meloch (mel-LOCH) :
Another popular character in other Iolish stories, the Wise Man is a close friend to Mathred and an advisor to Malach and others. He ruled the isle as High Teloch for five years, giving the Iolish peace for the first time. Remembered by most as a good and just ruler, his name became synonymous with the High Teloch. His symbol is the Hart. Husband of Niola, whose symbol is the Hind, and father of Ilulean Finnoan.
Ceallach (kel-LACH) :
The ferocious warrior and one time Teloch of the Drocht Baalon, Ceallach became a close friend of Malach and served as his champion. After the events of the Night Raid of Helm Hailas, he dedicates himself to recovering the line of the High Teloch.
Reych/ The Hunter :
His mother died as he was born, and his distraught father placed a terrible curse on him, even as he took his first breaths. Cursed to carry those he killed upon his heart, the young boy grew to be strong and violent. Loyal to Queen Mebeb (mee-beb), he battles in the Night Raid of Helm Hailas and is chosen as her consort. When the curse acts upon her, he is driven to grief and revenges himself upon the people of Helm Hailas, strengthening the curse on his heart, becoming the Hunter. He searches the isle for the ring, thinking it to be his alone.
Noríín (NOR-in) :
The once clever son of the Un Salal Teloch, Noríín was one battle away from becoming the heir to the High Teloch. Defeated, he jealously defended what little power he had. In that time he met the Hunter.
The Otter and the Sparrow :
The former a bandit, the latter a singer, these two join Ceallach in a battle against the Hunter and Noríín. The pair go to the hall of the Hawk King.
